Dana Kliethermes turned heads in this beautiful red ensemble at the fourth Strut Your Style Luncheon and Fashion Show at the Capitol Plaza Hotel. The breast cancer survivor was beloved by her family, friends and many people in the community. She passed away this summer.

One of the most stunning outfits that caught everyone’s attention at the 2017 Strut Your Style Fashion Show & Luncheon was an elegant red jumpsuit, worn by the beautiful Dana Kliethermes. Her infectious smile and positivity also lit up the entire room.

It was her second year doing the show, an event she loved and for a cause close to her heart as a breast cancer survivor. Unfortunately, she passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack this summer.

“She was a beautiful sweet girl, and we are all just heartbroken,” said Sherrie Brant, organizer of the Strut Your Style event.

Dana was diagnosed with breast cancer at 35, discovering it was stage 2B. She worked with Dr. Diane Light, who conducted a double mastectomy and reconstruction. She also went through chemotherapy treatment every three weeks for six months.

Dana also knew one thing would help get her through her fight with cancer – a positive attitude. To the two loves of her life – her children Sydnee and Josh – that was one of the most important things that helped her be the best mom she could be.

“I had to have a positive attitude. I didn’t want to worry my kids and I didn’t want them to see me down,” she told HER Magazine during an interview last winter. “It helped me get through it. That was a huge thing.”

Being a part of Strut Your Style was an event Dana was excited to participate in each year. She enjoyed meeting all the ladies in the show who had the same experiences she did and understood her.

“For me, it will always be a part of me and having that bond with all those ladies at the show is an incredible feeling,” she said.

For those same ladies, her family and her friends, Dana was an amazing woman they were all glad to have known.

“She did everything for her children and lived for them. She was amazing. You could call her at any time and she would be there for anybody,” said Pam Schnieders, Dana’s close friend a fellow Strut Your Style model who will talk about Dana at the 2018 event in December. “If I could strive to be like someone it would be her because she put everything out there all the time.”
