HER Magazine featured 12-year-old Olivia Burney and her 9-year-old sister Emma in its “Little HER superstars” issue as part of a group of extraordinary young ladies in central Missouri to watch.
The Columbia-based folk pop duo has truly exploded onto the Mid-Missouri music scene, building up quite the fanbase in the short time they have been performing out and about. All the while, Olivia and Emma have worked on original music, hoping to release their first album last year. They have achieved many of their professional music goals, and they now can check that one off the list too.
The Burney Sisters recorded a four-song CD at Reach Audio with Kevin Gates in Springfield, Missouri last fall and released it Dec. 15. That same night, friends, family and fans came out to hear their original tunes at a CD release party held at Rose Music Hall in Columbia. Special guests Tanner Jones and Blue Jay performed, as did the The Burney Sisters.
“Running Away” is not only the title track on the new CD, but the sisters have also made their first video with the help of director Joe Wittman and producer Kevin Gates at Reach Audio, and cast members Olivia Breuer, Alec Davis, Tanner Jones and Bradley Hutchinson.
HER Magazine is so excited to follow the journey of these amazing young ladies, and encourages its readers to do the same.
The CD is locally available at Vinyl Renaissance & Audio in Columbia and online this month. For more information, upcoming gigs and more, visit facebook.com/burneysistersmusic.
